- General Requirements and File Preparation
To ensure an efficient editorial workflow and a rigorous double-blind peer review process, all submissions to the Revista Nebrija de Lingüística Aplicada a la Enseñanza de Lenguas (RNLAEL) must comprise two separate files in an editable format (.docx, .rtf, or .odt):
- File A (Title Page): A non-anonymised document containing the full institutional affiliations of the authors, along with all mandatory ethical, legal, and authorship statements.
- File B (Manuscript): A fully anonymised document containing the complete text of the article for double-blind peer review.
- File A: Title Page, Metadata, and Declarations
This file gathers all information identifying authorship and guaranteeing research integrity and transparency. It must be prepared in strict accordance with the official template and must include:
- Authorship Details: Full name(s), standardized institutional affiliation(s) (omitting administrative or academic titles), institutional email address(es), ORCID iD(s), and a brief biodata (100–150 words) for each author.
- CRediT Statement: A comprehensive description of individual author roles and contributions, structured according to the standardized CRediT taxonomy.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Declaration: Mandatory solely if generative AI tools were used for methodological, analytical, literature synthesis, or conceptual reasoning purposes. If AI assistance was limited exclusively to basic linguistic support (spelling, grammar correction, copyediting, or language refinement of drafts written by non-native speakers), disclosure is not required. AI tools do not meet authorship criteria.
- Ethical Approval and Informed Consent: Identification of the ethics committee, along with the official approval protocol number for studies involving human participants (or an explicit statement justifying ethical exemption).
- Data Availability: Statement specifying open access to the underlying research data or providing a permanent link to the public repository.
- Conflicts of Interest and Licensing: Declaration of any potential competing interests and formal acceptance of open access publication under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.
- Suggested Reviewers: Contact information and fields of expertise for two prospective external reviewers, accompanied by a declaration of absence of conflict of interest.
(For detailed breakdowns, requirements, and textual templates for each statement, please refer to the File A template).
- File B: Manuscript for Anonymous Review
The manuscript submitted for evaluation must be entirely stripped of any identifying information that could compromise the double-blind review process:
- Rigorous Anonymisation: Remove all author names, acknowledgements, and explicit project funding details from the body of the document. References to the authors' own prior works must be phrased in an impersonal style or replaced with "[AUTHOR]". Ensure that all personal identifying information is thoroughly removed from the document properties (File > Info > Inspect Document).
- Word Count and Layout: Between 7,000 and 8,000 words (including main text, notes, tables, figures, appendices, and references). Single line spacing, uniform 2.5 cm margins on all sides, and corporate Noto Serif typography (11 pt for the main body, 12 pt for manual hierarchical headings, and 10 pt for notes and block quotations).
- Initial Structure: Bilingual title in Spanish and English (14 pt), bilingual abstracts (Resumen and Abstract, max. 150 words each in 10 pt), and bilingual keywords (Palabras clave and Keywords, max. 5 terms in 10 pt).
- Notes and Citations: A maximum of 10 endnotes is permitted (footnotes are not accepted). In-text citations and the reference list must strictly conform to APA 7th edition guidelines, with all active, hyperlinked DOI URLs included.
(Detailed typographical guidelines, styles, spacing, and formatting for linguistic examples can be found within the File B template).
- Graphic Elements and Supplementary Materials
- Embedded Tables and Figures: Must be presented in editable format, centred on the page, consecutively numbered and titled, and explicitly indicating their source or attribution (e.g., "Source: Author's own elaboration"). Visual design must feature clean white backgrounds and the institutional blue palette (Accent 4 or Monochromatic 4).
- Supplementary Image Archive (.zip / .rar): In addition to their placement within the text, all figures, diagrams, and illustrations must be submitted in a separate compressed archive in their original high-resolution format (minimum 300 dpi; maximum 1 MB per file).
- Corpora and Supplementary Materials: Linguistic corpora, data collection instruments (questionnaires, interview protocols), or datasets may be supplied as supplementary files, clearly labelled while maintaining absolute anonymity and data protection standards.
- Individual Account Creation: All contributing authors must hold an active user account on the journal's OJS platform prior to submission.
- Complete Metadata Submission: During the submission upload stage, the corresponding author must enter all co-authors in the contributors/metadata section (including full names, institutional email addresses, affiliations, and ORCID iDs). Submissions listing only a single user on the platform for multi-authored manuscripts will not be processed.
