Abstract

The present review builds on Martínez González’s article, which focuses on the acquisition of grammatical possession by English-speaking learners of L2 Spanish, to reflect on the influence of the learner’s L1 on the acquisition of an L2 and on the role that formal instruction can play to minimize the possible negative consequences of such an influence.
