Abstract

The aim of this work is a series of critical remarks about the role of applied linguistics in the context of the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language in Brazil. These pages make a presentation on the topic of American integration from the standpoint of social and cultural development. Then this issue is related to the specific needs of Brazilian students and the role of Spanish in the educational context of that country.
