The middle Diathesis at the lexicon-syntax interface and a learning application of sentences with “se” in Spanish as a Second Language

Abstract

In this paper, we collect some reflections that have been done on the category of middle diathesis, usually linked to the presence of the clitic se. This particle shows a rich functionality, which presence modify syntactic consistency and lexical disposition, in the so-called lexicon-syntax interface. We register how their presence acts in relation to the different verbal typology in case of remove arguments of the sentence. We also provide some reflections in the field of Spanish as Foreign Language to consider middle verbs as essential for the best understanding of values presented in se particle.

Author Biography

José María Escribano Angulo, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

He is currently a PhD candidate of Spanish Language and its Literatures at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he has also obtained a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and a degree in Spanish: Language and Literature. He has worked as a Spanish lecturer at the Tianjin University of Foreign Studies (China) for three years under the patronage of the Spanish Agency for Cooperation and Development.
