Abstract

This paper supports the need for filling an editorial space within the discipline of Applied Linguistics to Language Teaching (ALLT). Three main features are proposed for publications intended to fill this editorial space. Firstly, these new publications should include the scientific style and scientific method observed for other publications, although different to applied linguistics, not completely separated from this discipline (e.g. cognitive sciences). Secondly, these publications should promote theoretical discussion by confronting theoretical positions regarding interesting issues for ALLT Thirdly, these publications should be accessible to the largest number of researchers. The need for these characteristics is motivated here on the basis of the lack of papers wiitten in Spanish adopting the scientific method. The lack of theoretical debate WITHIN a unique publication is also reported here. In order to exemplify these proposals, a series of articles dealing with the accessibility of the principies of the Universal Granunar are described. This debate is less influential for the study of language acquisition alter the childhood. Some ideas that might contribute to fill the editorial space detected here are reported at the end of this article. In particular, the creation of a new publication is reported: Revista Nebrija
