- Web structure, access and functionalities of the OJS platform in RNLAEL
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that providing the public with free access to research helps to increase the global exchange of knowledge. With this belief, it adheres to the Declaration of Berlin (2003), which advocates free and open access to scientific research data.
Digital presentation and interoperability protocols
This journal generates a unique and permanent identifier for its publications (doi) managed through the mEDRA Agency (CrossRef XML format and with citation deposit in CrossRef). Currently the OJS platform has enabled the DOAJ and Crossref modules with which the bibliographic repositories work.
Authors are free to archive their articles under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Public License.
Digital preservation policy
Nebrija Journal of Linguistics Applied to Language Teaching (RNLAEL) is committed to the long-term preservation of all its published content. Our digital preservation policy ensures that scientific articles remain accessible, complete and usable over time, regardless of technological or institutional changes.
- Management system
The journal operates under the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), which provides integrated digital preservation tools and allows interoperability with external archiving systems.
- Preservation strategies
- Redundant storage: Articles, metadata and complete issues are stored on secure servers at Nebrija University and backed up in the cloud.
- Automatic backups: Regular backups are made of the editorial content, including articles, metadata and associated files.
- Preservation formats: Standardised and commonly used formats (PDF, XML-JATS, HTML) are used to facilitate long-term preservation.
- External preservation services
RNLAEL participates in the following preservation systems:
- PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): A decentralised preservation network that guarantees long-term access to content in journals using OJS.
- Institutional and national repositories: The journal also collaborates with academic repositories where its articles are deposited as part of the dissemination and conservation strategy.
- Perpetual access
In the event of temporary interruption or cessation of publication, all articles will continue to be available through:
- The institutional repository of Nebrija University.
- The PKP PN preservation network.
- Other academic and archive platforms with which the journal has cooperation agreements.
- Institutional commitment
Nebrija University provides technical support for the sustainability of the journal, guaranteeing the maintenance of its archives and the technological updating of the editorial management system.
- Review and improvement
This policy will be periodically reviewed to adapt to technological advances and international best practices in digital preservation.
