Abstract

This empirical research aims to know the learning strategies used by 4th ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) students and its frequency of use related to the English language acquisition as a foreign language and a data contrast taking into account their sex. The results support that students have a great confidence inmemorizing and asking to solve doubts as learning strategies. Nevertheless, the less used learning strategies areto extend sentences and texts and second language analysis (L2). Female students use all the groups of strategies more frequently than their male partners. Thus, their academic marks in English language are also higher.
