Abstract

This present paper shows the results of a study on textual genre oral academic presentations in L2. The research aims to describe the global structural characteristics –macrotextual analysis- of that oral text from the perspective of the speakers, in an authentic and institutional framework with evaluation purposes. It also includes analysis of the communicative situation in which the discourse occurs considering: the roles of the participants –speakers and audience- and the characteristics and moments of interaction. It is a pilot, empirical, descriptive and qualitative study. The oral corpus is consisting of 20 oral academic presentations in Spanish as foreign language of German students. The study results allow a description of the global structural characteristics of the oral presentations identifying the type of predominant discourse – monologic/dialogic- as well as some features that it assumes in the different phases or moments of it.
