Abstract

This study is intented to discover how Spanish teachers in the state of Georgia, USA, assess their linguistic and pedagogical preparation for their teaching careers. In order to fulfill this investigation, a questionnaire has been prepared to interview Spanish teachers in the public school system of Georgia. The results have shown that Spanish teacher's training programs don't provide the adequate linguistic preparation that guarantees the level of fluency needed for the teaching career. This study concludes that it is necessary to provide more opportunities for language development of teachers, and it has suggested some proposals for improvement.
