Abstract

This work aims to make a contribution to the structure and to the possibilities of a systematic analysis of the lexical component by examining a specific category, the verb. To do this, it combines the proposals contained in the Common European Framework for Languages with specific methodological approaches concerning to the lexical knowledge. This results in a formalized proposal of the features that constitute the lexical competence of the verb. These features are grouped into morphological, semantic (also including paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations), lexical-syntactic and sociolinguistic areas. This proposal is designed to be useful for interlanguage studies, in which lexical knowledge in general, and the verb, in particular, play a key role.
