Abstract

This comment analyses the article “Perception of educational culture and learning styles in language learning: the Romanian case” written by Isabel Morera Bañas and Kris Buyse. The article offers two guidelines in the research: the identification of the cultural influx in learning styles found in Romanian respondents studying Spanish in language centres in Spain to which is added a contrastive dimension that aims to underline the differences between learning styles manifested by Romanians integrated in the communist school system and those taught mostly in the post-communist era. The comment emphasizes the utility of the article for the student-centered teaching and discusses a suggestion for the study of an intermediate category of learners, meaning those that had their academic instruction mostly between 1990 and 2000, a transition period for the Romanian educational system.
