The teaching of the compensatory strategies

The present article examines the need to teach compensatory strategies in the foreign language classroom. It is a controversial issue, that has caused a debate between the researchers. To give a global view of this subject, some of the arguments of the opposing viewpoints are presented together with some considerations which should be taken into account before reaching a conclusion as to whether their teaching should be included in the curriculum of foreign language learning.
