Abstract

This article presents the situation of the teaching of Spanish as a heritage language or language of origin in the Swiss context. 118 families of children attending language and culture of origin courses in the country answered a questionnaire on the situation of Spanish at home, the different languages spoken at home, early literacy practices and the socio-educational level of the parents. The questionnaire allowed us to learn about the characteristics of the population and to discuss some assumptions about the teaching structure and its role in society.
