Abstract

Based on a metaphorical approach to phraseology, the purpose of this article is to analyze three phraseological units of Argentinian Spanish currently in force referring to states of a person in real contexts of use, from a multidimensional approach to metaphor. The perspective adopted in the metaphorical analysis not only considers the cognitive level, but also linguistic, discursive and cultural aspects, which are necessary to complement the notion of idiomaticity of phraseologisms. With these tools, an attempt is made to identify the meanings acquired by the phraseological units examined in different discursive contexts and to understand their motivations.
