Abstract

The paper presents the phenomenon of polysemous variation of fixed verbal constructions in the Spanish language, based on the database, which contains more than 40,000 entries. The analysis of the database has made it possible to compile 14500 polysemous fixed verb constructions, of which 9362 correspond to peninsular and often common Spanish, while 5160 correspond to Hispanic-American Spanish; as well as to establish a typology of polysemy. In a second part of the work, we analyse the 247 fixed verbal constructions containing the zoonym 'perro' and the case of another 107 which are polysemous diatopics, in order to compare the formation of new meanings, as well as the origin and geographical use of the expressions.

Pedro Mogorrón, University of Alicante

PhD in Romance Philology from the University of Valencia. He is a professor at the University of Alicante and coordinator of the PhD in Translation, Professional and Audiovisual Translation. He is coordinator of the FRASYTRAM research group. His lines of research include phraseology, phraseodidactics, audiovisual translation and the translation of cultural references.

Geisy Labrada Hernández, University of Holguin

Bachelor of Arts and PhD candidate in Linguistic Sciences at the Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba. Lecturer in Grammar, Writing, Lexicology, Semantics and E/LE at the University of Holguín, Cuba. Member and coordinator of the eastern region of the Group for the Study of Cuban Phraseology (GEFRASCU). She has published research results in national and foreign journals such as Paremia, Cadernos de Fraseoloxía Galega and Comunicación. His lines of research include phraseology and phraseodidactics.

Gloria Viviana Nieto Martín, University of Alicante

Master's degree in Spanish Linguistics from the Caro y Cuervo Institute, Master's degree in Hispanic Lexicography from the University of León-Real Academia Española and PhD candidate in Translatology, Professional and Audiovisual Translation from the University of Alicante. She works as a teacher-researcher at the Caro y Cuervo Institute, where she coordinates the Master's degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign and Second Language, and directs the lexical corpus of Colombian Spanish CorlexCo.
