This dissertation reviews 10 scientific articles in the last decade regarding foreign language adult literacy with digital tools. When carrying out this review, the trends of the topics addressed, the study objectives and the methodology applied are noted. The consultation of the WOS and Scopus databases is taken into account for the selection of impact articles and online postgraduate theses. Likewise, after the analysis of documents, specialized authors such as Heather Lotherington are highlighted. Among the conclusions, it is formulated that the multimodal digital tools that are spoken of in relation to adults for learning second languages consist of technologies applied to other educational levels, namely, applications with artificial intelligence technology, immersive technologies, social networks in mobile, video games and video production.
